HISTORY

Nursery

How it all began

Timme's Market was founded by Oscar Timme in 1931 as a humble grocery store in Nursery, Texas. After the death of his first wife in childbirth, Annie, he later moved on to a feed and grocery store on Moody Street in Victoria, Texas which sold a little bit of everything. Oscar soon met his second wife, Pearl, in 1936.

Expansion

Oscar bought property in Goliad and built a small gas station in 1937, which soon expanded into a feed store the following year in 1938. Oscar and Pearl lived over the store in Goliad and sold any and everything that a farmer would need including supplies and livestock.

In the forties and fifties, Oscar would expand to a pork production plant in Victoria, Texas, a poultry farm on Parsons Road, and even a 6000 square foot supermarket. Timmes Market became known as the spot where you could get a little bit of everything at a good price.
